festa erant, quae Romae mense Iuniô celebrabantur, uti docent Varro, l. 5. de LL. et Macrob. l. 3. c. 3. Sunt autem ideo dicta, quod eô die repentinô tumultu fugeret popul. roman. in bello Gallorum cum Romanis. Ovid. Fast. l. 2. v. 491.
Est locus, antiqui Capreae dixêre paludem:
Forte tuis illic, Romule, iura dabas.
Sol fugit; et removent subeuntia nubila caelum:
Et gravis effusis decidit imber aquis.
Hinc tonat, hinc missis abrumpitur ignibus ather,
Fit fuga, etc.
